VFR OVER THE TOP

The VFR OTT rating allows the private pilot to fly above a solid layer of clouds in visual meteorological conditions, when visual reference to the ground is unavailable. Climbing or descending through clouds is not permitted, so conditions at your destination must be forecast to be good enough so a descent through cloud will not be required.

Once again, there is no test or written examination. The holder of a Commercial License automatically has VFR OTT privileges.
